This 60-m/196-ft-high waterfall, which jumps onto two levels, is most likely one of the most beautiful in Haut Jura.
Getting there: 2 options:
1- From St-Claude, travel for almost 3 km/2 miles to the village of Chaumont (road D304). There is a car park on the right at the top of a short hill; the path starts here.
Return circuit: Duration: 1 hr – Distance: 2.5 km / 1.5 miles – Height variation: 110 m / 360 ft
2- Go to the Serger stadium, leave your car in the car park and take rue de la Fontaine aux Oiseaux, then take the path that goes up. After a 10-min walk you will see the cascade de la Queue de l’Ane (Donkey Tail Waterfall) on your right.
Return circuit: Duration: 2.5 hrs – Height variation: 165 m / 541 ft – Distance: 5 km / 3 miles
