the Swallows’ Railway

Built between 1865 and 1912 in order to connect the Haut-Jura to the rest of the country, the "Ligne des Hirondelles" covers 120 km (74.5 miles) between Saint-Claude and Dole. It takes over 2.5 hours to cross the Jura from one side to the other.

Typical mountain railway, its single path is crossing viaducts and tunnels, villages and natural landscapes for the great pleasure of travellers.
Enjoy the view on the Bienne valley, Morez’s city, the Grandvaux plateaus, the forge of Syam, the vineyards and the Chaux forest.

A flyer is available in french at the Tourist Office HautJura Saint-Claude.
